You can now pee on Barack Obama’s face (and the White House isn’t very happy about it)

The White House has slammed photos of a Barack Obama urinal cake.

Those attending a Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington could pee on the American president’s face.

Igor Bobic, associate editor for The Huffington Post, tweeted a photo of the offending urinal.

Dan Pfeiffer, senior adviser at the White House, responded to the pictures on Twitter, branding them ‘totally uncalled for’ and commenting on the size of Obama’s ears.

It’s unclear who was responsible for putting the figurines in the urinals.

Nelson Mandela dies in Johannesburg aged 95 | South Africa Mourns Madiba | RIP Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela dies in Johannesburg aged 95 | South Africa Mourns Madiba | RIP Nelson Mandela – South Africa’s first black president and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has died, South Africa’s president says. Mr Mandela, 95, led South Africa’s transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s, after 27 years in prison.

He had been receiving intense home-based medical care for a lung infection after three months in hospital. In a statement on South African national TV, Mr Zuma said Mr Mandela had “departed” and was at peace.

“Our nation has lost its greatest son,” Mr Zuma said. He said Mr Mandela would receive a full state funeral, and flags would be flown at half-mast.

BBC correspondents say Mr Mandela’s body will be moved to a mortuary in Pretoria, and the funeral is likely to take place next Saturday. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate was one of the world’s most revered statesmen after preaching reconciliation despite being imprisoned for 27 years. He had rarely been seen in public since officially retiring in 2004.

“What made Nelson Mandela great was precisely what made him human. We saw in him what we seek in ourselves,” Mr Zuma said.

“Fellow South Africans, Nelson Mandela brought us together and it is together that we will bid him farewell.”

US President Barack Obama said Mr Mandela achieved more than could be expected of any man. He hailed him as “a man who took history in his hands and bent the arc of the moral universe towards justice”.

The greatest father there ever was: this is how South Africans will remember the man who brought an end to apartheid and delivered the nation from the brink of civil war. Social networking sites are abuzz with messages of condolences and messages of gratitude to the late statesman. He had been in and out of hospital in recent years and had become increasingly frail but many South Africans had continued to express their unreadiness to lose him.

As he did in life, his passing has brought unity amongst South Africans as black and white speak of their love for him. Many here will be drawing on that same spirit for strength, that “Madiba magic” over the next few days and weeks as the nation left with the great burden of honouring Mr Madela’s legacy, mourns his passing but also celebrates his life.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron paid tribute to Mr Mandela, saying “a great light has gone out in the world”.

Since he was released from hospital, the South African presidency repeatedly described Mr Mandela’s condition as critical but stable. Born in 1918, Nelson Mandela joined the African National Congress (ANC) in 1943, as a law student. He and other ANC leaders campaigned against apartheid (white-only rule). He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964, but was released in 1990 as South Africa began to move away from strict racial segregation.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was elected South Africa’s first black president in 1994. He stepped down after five years in office. After leaving office, he became South Africa’s highest-profile ambassador, campaigning against HIV/Aids and helping to secure his country’s right to host the 2010 football World Cup.

He was also involved in peace negotiations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and other countries in Africa and elsewhere.

THUMBS UP for the Troops!

UK, USA and UN to attack Syria | Do you think we should intervene? So it looks like we are once gain gearing up for a war over shore. This time just in Syria after President Bashar al-Assad has been accused of useing Chemical Weapons and Chemical Weapon attacks against his own people. This week as seem a building of tensions within the collected nations looking to take further action.

The United States (USA) have stated that chemical weapon attacks can only have been from Bashar al-Assad’s government and troops and that it is a crime against international law and we need to tak action as the “red line” has been crossed. In the UN Security Council other country’s have started to pledge support and the UK Government Coalition have recalled Parliament to debate the require resolution to start direct action that must be “legal, direct and proportionate” ad all “future action must be refereed to the house” for debate.

So what do you think of the Syria situation? Should we intervene to stop chemical weapon attacks? Should we intervene to remove President Bashar al-Assad? Is a Syrian intervention out only option? Is this yet another war we don’t need to be dealing with?

#Apple wins key patent case against rival #Samsung in US

Apple has won a key patent case against rival Samsung at the US International Trade Commission (US ITC).

The US ITC upheld a 2011 decision which found that Samsung had infringed Apple patents in the production of mobile phones, media players and tablets.

The US ITC has ordered that Samsung devices affected by the ruling are banned from the US.

But that ban is on hold while US President Barack Obama reviews the decision.

The President has 60 days to assess the US ITC’s findings, although analysts say he is unlikely to overturn the commission’s decision.

“We are disappointed that the ITC has issued an exclusion order based on two of Apple’s patents,” Samsung said in a statement.

“The proper focus for the smartphone industry is not a global war in the courts, but fair competition in the marketplace.”

Apple hailed the decision, placing it in the context of the tech giants’ global patent battles.

“With today’s decision, the ITC has joined courts around the world in Japan, Korea, Germany, Netherlands and California by standing up for innovation and rejecting Samsung’s blatant copying of Apple’s products,” said the company.

Two patents

The ruling applies to two patents.

The first is the so-called “Steve Jobs patent“, named after the company’s founder, which involves touch-screen technology.

The other patent is related to the audio socket on devices.

“It’s another significant victory for Apple,” intellectual property analyst Florian Mueller told the BBC, “especially because the famous Steve Jobs patent is a pretty foundational patent.”

Four other patent infringements asserted by Apple were turned down by the US ITC.

Ongoing battles

Apple and Samsung have been fighting patent battles for years and across 10 countries.

The fight has escalated after Samsung overtook Apple last year to become the global leader in smartphone sales.

In Washington on Friday, a federal appeals judge heard testimony in a separate patent case between the two companies relating to a decision last year, in which Samsung was found to owe Apple $1bn (£645m) for infringing on patents.

That penalty was later struck to $450m, but Apple appealed against the ruling. A verdict in that case has not yet been issued.

Separately, last weekend President Obama issued the first presidential veto in 26 years relating to a US ITC decision.

That veto overturned a ban on older models of Apple’s iPhones and iPads because of its “effect on competitive conditions in the US economy”.

Friday’s ruling is widely seen as a victory for the company.

“In a way. the noose is tightening. Apple step by step actually is gaining leverage against Samsung,” says Mr Mueller.
