Rock Music and Grand Theft Auto V Blamed For School Stabbing

Corpus Christi Stabbing Blamed on Rock Music & GTA – I Disagree!

This week a 15 Year Old Boy stabbed teach Ann Maguire to death at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds.

I would like to extend my support, love and sympathy to every student, teacher and parent involved in this incident.

However, this video is to address how the media has once again started to aim all news reports at blaming rock music and videos games for violence. Video games and rock music have long since been vilified by the media with Judas Priest, Twisted Sister, Marilyn Manson and now Bring Me The Horizon for issues such as this one. We have also had Grand Theft Auto and other computer games blamed for violence in schools.

I just wanted to put on record my feelings toward this cliché and bullshit blame culture that the media love to perpetuate and survey opinion.

So what do you think? Agree, thumbs up…. disagree thumbs down and please comment below.

I disagree with the media take on this. It is too easy to find a scapegoat that nullifies the responsibility of parents. As a parent and a teacher it is all too evident those parents who have abrogated any active role in the formation of well-adjusted youth of the future. I have just put in a day at the frontline in a school and area where the predominant attitude is ‘let the schools do everything’. Don’t get me started on what teachers are becoming increasingly responsible for. It defies logic, common sense and sound judgement. But it is easier for politicians to pass the buck to employees than to tackle root causes and lose possible votes. It is appeasement at its worst. And it is growing worse. God help the children of those who are responsible, nurturing and caring. They are too often lost in the maze. I could be wrong. But I doubt it. Too many yeares of watching and commenting with no action taken to redress the balance. If games have a part to play -if – then that also is parental responsibility neglected.
Sorry for the mini-rant. But one of those days when the truth seems self-evident. And, boy, is it scary.x
